Effort to Recall Rep Tom Sullivan Ends

Aurora State Rep. Tom Sullivan lost his son, Alex, in the Aurora Theater Shooting. He has been a strong advocate for gun control and was a co-sponsor of Colorado's new Red Flag law that allows guns to be taken by court order from a person found to be a danger to themselves or others.

Gun groups and other targeted the democrat for a recall and had been working to gather the signatures needed to get a recall on the ballot. That effort ended on Tuesday morning.

On Facebook, CO Republican part Vice-chair, Kristi Burton Brown, announced "We are pulling the recall to focus on other essential efforts."

Reports had suggested the recall drive was coming up short of the signatures needed to qualify for the ballot.

Sullivan is up for re-election in 2020.
