15 games.

That is how long Nathaniel Hackett's tenure lasted as head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Monday, the organization parted ways with Hackett after a 51-14 blowout loss to the Rams on Sunday.

That loss was the final blow but even earlier in the season, the parting seemed more about when it would happen than if it would happen.

The Broncos four-game losing streak from October 2nd through 23rd left them with a 2-5 record. Later, a five-game losing streak put their record at 3-10 after falling to the Kansas City Chiefs, 34-28, on Sunday, Dec. 11.

ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report that Broncos senior assistant coach Jerry Rosburg will serve as the interim head coach for the final two games of the season.

Later on Monday, the Broncos also fired offensive line coach Butch Barry and special teams coordinator Dwayne Stukes.

The Broncos brought Hackett in to replace Vic Fangio last spring and jump start a dormant offense. But that never happened. This season, the Broncos average a league-worst 15.5 points per game.

In a statement, Broncos owner Greg Penner said he would lead the search for a new head coach and get input from the ownership group and general manager George Paton. Penner expressed his confidence in Paton.

The Broncos have two games left in the 2022 season, the first of which is on the road on New Year's Day against the Kansas City Chiefs. KOA 850 AM and 94.1 FM coverage starts at 7 a.m. MST on January 1.
