Reginald "Reggie" McDaniel, 1950-2010
Tuesday 08-24-2010 10:19am MT

He was an 850KOA character, movie critic, and host of a weekend talk show called the Everyday People's Entertainment Guide. 850KOA has learned that our former talk host Reggie McDaniel has passed away after a long illness. McDaniel interviewed Hollywood's biggest stars and shared great stories of his military service with our audience throughout the years. Services for McDaniel will be held Saturday, Aug. 28th at My Father's House, 14700 E. Mississippi in Aurora.
Reggie was beloved by the staff here at Clear Channel, here are some of our memories in tribute to a wonderful, jovial man:
Reggie could brighten up a room full of flood-lights. He taught us all how to smile and not dwell on problems. He’ll be greatly missed. However, and there’s always a “however,” we’re all better people for being able to call Reggie “friend.” - Darrell Luebbe
Reggie was also there to brighten your day with his colorful suits and playful smile. One day he’d look like a giant banana in yellow. The next time, head to toe in purple. My favorite was his red outfit. The store he brought his clothes from will probably go out of business now that he’s gone. We always knew Reggie was living on borrowed time with his illness but he didn’t wallow in self-pity. Instead he resolved to be a positive force in people’s lives. Mission accomplished! - Jerry Bell
What I’ll miss most about Reggie was how he lit up a room. He would walk into the newsroom always smelling great. You could smell his cologne before you saw him. And he always had a compliment for everybody. I lost a bet with him once and took him out to lunch. I will never forget: he ordered his dessert before his lunch and told me that ‘life is too short to skip dessert ... so why not start with it.’ He was a positive presence in my life and I know I’ll think of him often. - April Zesbaugh
