If the 14th Ammendment is indeed repealed from the U.S. Constitution, then it could give the government the right to revoke citizenshiip of existing Americans since their birthrights can no longer be levereged in their favor.
Of course, the 14th could be repealed with carefully crafted legal expertise, yet, it still approaches more rights being taken away. Dave Arvada,CO
Gunny...I'm glad you have a blog up and running. What is your opinion on what is happening with the Japanese getting themselves set up via their Constitutional process to make a first strike against North Korea?
The 14th amendment reads:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside." The phrase "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" seems to be a waste of six words. Has this part of the 14th ever been invoked? What could such a situation be, if not something to do with legal status of the parents? The phrase must have meant _something_ to the authors.

The blog seems to be up and running just fine.
I always have a problem with amending the Constitution, because, as you have noted so many times. The devil is in the details. I might favor something along the lines of "any person born with a parent that is a legal citizen" or something to that effect. Also, I have a spell checker, that is a free down load that works here on the blog. If any are interested, let me know and I will post a link to get it. No, the 14th being repealed would not be a means for the government to take anyone's citizenship; it would only PREVENT citizenship from being automatically given to the children of IAs.

The Japanese do not have medium-range missiles, so that means if they hit NK, they must do so via airstrike or naval forces. However, their constitution comes into play here, which says their military can only be used for defense, so the question becomes: do the Japanese feel strongly enough about this issue to declare a pre-emptive strike "defense"?
Hello Gunny...just discovered your blog and am glad to have found it! Just thought I'd share with you that my 20 year old son has been a big fan of your show for the past year of so and...he's now in his 6th week of bootcamp at the M.C.R.D. in San Diego! The Karr charges in Colorado have been dropped. If he is sent to California, that state should pick up the 'tab' for getting the guy back on U.S. soil with reimbursement to Boulder.
