Wedding Bells Bucks

OK, so my daughter is engaged. How much can I expect to have to pay for each guest at the reception? Gimme a range.

Also, for you who have gone through this before, what things do we need to be thinking about long before the event to prevent glitches?

Comments:
Gunny, congrats on your blog! FReegards!

PAY HER OFF TO ELOPE,meet them there to be witnesses. Then have a big party for them.Pray the marriage lasts.

The first thing that you need to do is select a venue. Once you have selected a venue you can determine how much of your budget you have left to spend on entertainment, food, decorations, etc. Many venues require you to use their in house caterers. Have your daughter pick the venue first and then put together the rest of your plans. Too bad you don't have the rehersal dinner. I do those for between 10 and 15 dollars a head. If you have any other questions, Dr, Mike has my card.

Congrats to your daughter, to you, and to your wife!

No idea to today's standards: cost per guest.

Get a 'Brides book' from the library. Depending on the families, the seating charts are important. If your daughter & future son like the outdoors, go casual, picnic or bar-b-q. More formal, sit down reception. Buffets are nice, too.
Figure min. $30 per person, depending on where & when reception is held. Holiday weekends can be more $. It is not too soon to book a place, this year. The main thing is what the couple want & that they enjoy their special day

Donna:

Thanks for the info!

Probably Gunny, I`s just hold my wallet as close to me as I could, then - don`t count on it not costing you in the future anyway. Just because they are out of the "nest," it doesn`t mean they will not come "calling" looking for free "worms."
Trust me, I have some experience in these matters! LOL

BB:

Kids are funny that way.

Lucky for me my eldest and her hubby to be didn't want anything formal. My other daughter however wanted the whole show.
I used a wedding chapel that was located at 26th Avenue and Sheridan. By the time it was all over I spent close to three thousand dollars!
Both marriages are doing great, and I have a grandson that is fly fishing well at eleven years of age. Not to mention that he is already a fifth bar sharpshooter in the NRA!
I can only wish your daughter and future husband the best.
Patrick from Lakewood.

my brother spent about 150 on the wedding participants. thats the reception chow and the rehearsal dinner combined. and he also bought the best man (me) a nice watch. i think all the brides maids received a party gift. but other than that, i would expect 25-50 per person and do have a cash bar - it will save you millions. LOL
