Comments:
Gunny,
I'd like three subjects discussed.
I'd be reeeeal interested in discussing fundemental changes in our approach to talk radio.

Petey and you have both used talk radio as a rallying cry for public motivation. I've heard Petey call for emails to the Governor to call a special session. The governor came out the afternoon of that morning show and announced it.

If people are displeased with what the representative is doing by his voting, they could be offered by your website and announced on the air a link to email that Congressman or Senator.

Especially if you have that vote as a subject on one of your shows. It would be particularly powerful then.

Is there anything that Clear Channel's legal department would hiccup over if you did this?

Along with this fundemental change in talk radio, you seem to advertise for people you like. You seem to zing in your favorite haunts, another form of advertising, why not choose something like HR25/SR25 the Fair Tax Bill as one of your zingers?

I look at it this way. If the grand plan is that the only way to successfully compete with China is form a North American Union with Mexico supplying the US and Canada the cheap labor, we need to let our representatives know, we know and......we don't like it. They are asking us to foot the bill and we can't even foot the bill of our own generational welfare recipients much less more 11-20 million more.

All because they want cheap labor and the left has a ready made base to inflict their class warfare ideology on the ignorant? I have to pay for it too? Uhhh, no thanks...

Simultaneous to this we need to address our ability to pay for this conflict between we infidels and the holier than thou Muslilms. Oh yeah they deserve respect....my butt.

If not then maybe you could discuss if we are focused enough can we encourage our representatives to stop with the debates and let's concentrate on how we protect ourselves economically and not ask us to give up our soveriengty. (sp?)

Can we look at our tax system and see if we can simplify it to the extent that the person that works for $5.00 an hour can understand as easily as a person with a PHD in "The United States Tax Code" which is now 2.1 million words?

What would a system like this do to the necessity of cheap labor?

What is the expense of self employment? Maybe ask your bride.

Can we not find beauty enough in simplicity for us to trust it because it is simple?

Can we use talk radio to champion a consensus cause?

I'd be glad to discuss ways for you to use your station as a people's voice not just sampling the myriad of melodrama of the day.

We need to make more important decisions than debate stem cell research. We need to let our representatives know that the Government will no longer be the candy store of special interess.
It's getting too damn expensive and it's getting to damn dangerous to spend time on this crap. Pardon me...... He writes grinning.

Now where's me Scotch, this Irishman needs somt 15 year single malt...now....and a big cigar..
A splash and some ice for the second one bartender, me thinks a good sip is in order.
Have a good one,
Respectfully,
Wandering Old Democrat......

Wandering:

Interesting points and some valid ones, too. We will be discussing lots of politics-related stuff this summer and fall.

Stay tuned; I think you will be fascinated...

Hey Gunny,

I'd really like to know what you would say are the Top Ten skills/knowledge sets a young person (say between ages 10 and 18) should be taught to be reasonably safe in today's world.

And, if a parent doesn't have a particular skill you think is critical, where can they acquire it?

Thanks!

Gunny, I followed the instructions and started a fly fishing blog. We simply have to have something on fly fishing to talk about when the world news leaves us with the need of change the subject.

I, of course, have no idea how to find my own blog, but that isn't important yet. I called it Fly Fishing Made Possilbe. Abstract, yes, worthwhile, probably, fun? definately possible. You can't get windknots if you don't try.

Thanks Gunny, Wandering Old Democrat, Gary O here.

Just some ideas, thanks for the opportunity to offer some themes and some reasons why.

I apologize for the length. Me humble beginnings are showing.

Some day maybe talk radio will be more than a conduit of the latest 'discussion' and begin to have themes floated to see if it enhances overall audience share.

I know, "...don't mess with it if it ain't broke", but there's so much more that can be done and there's no harm in floating a once a month subject no matter what the latest 'hot' topic is.

I'm prejudice but from being a businessman I'm used to looking at overhead of any given task first, then make decisions.

If there is anything that I can do to simplify overhead in any task, I jump at it.

That's why I am a staunch supporter in considering our tax structure as we move into the new millinium and facing mounting debt. I don't want to leave that for my kids and I'm 61, not much time left.

Our destiny as a free society is to be more refined. That's what freedom gives us the opportunity to do.

Simplicity can the ulitmate in refinement to many Americans, I happen to be one.

Regards,
Wandering Old Democrat.

Okay, it's getting stale Gunny.

(passes over some ammo.)

The Drug War.

The definition of Gun Control.

Free Markets. Or Socialism? After all, it's a communist plot!

223 verses 7.62 in combat...

Okay, that should get things rolling...

Patrick from Lakewood

You're right.

Seems as of late there has been quite a few incidents of sexual assault involving female teachers. Is this really a new thing? Or has it been going on all along, and is just being reported more now?

It also looks like the number of shootings has increased. Some look as though they may have been justifable, others not. Am I alone in noticing this?

The anti gun factions are gearing up yet again; It is an election year after all; Too bad those same folks refuse to come out and support our Marines and Rangers. But, they use guns to do their jobs; Silly me.

How about the propagandist photographers of world press organizations... AP specifically.

Yeah I know, it certainly doesn't sound original, but in relation to this story...

Start here: http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2006/07/milking-it.html and then continue through the "For an update on this post, see here." links for more details. Quite disturbing.

This is the frustrating agenda setters of the "Mainstream Media" in action. Misrepresentation of propaganda as news should be a felony!

I want you expert opinion and discussion on the follwing.
How can anyone think this is a "worn out topic"? This is serious.
This is what I think:

I think Iran is starting it's promised distruction of Israel with the current war in Lebanon. Iran is supplying, helping and giving "the go ahead" to Hezbollah.

War in the Middle East is going to get very bad unless Iran is knocked on it's ass.

Hey Americans. Divided we fall. But I fear we have non-Americans amongst us.

May God help and bless us. Amen.

RE: The Gunny's story about proportional response.

Once again Gunny Bob nails it. I have never understood the very concept of proportional response. In war you fight to win. No ifs ands, or buts. Our troops deserve all the support that we can drum up, and then some. The Israeli’s deserve the same. We are, after all is said and done, fighting the very same enemy.

I found this on the net today. I happen to agree with it. Comments anyone?

Can a Muslim be a good American?

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon
god of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his
Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars
of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which
he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to
make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah
(spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction
of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women
and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam
cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or
autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare “one nation under God,”
the Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred
to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran’s
99 excellent names.

I WAS LISTENING TO YOUR SHOW LAST NIGHT GUNNY, I CALLED IN FROM ALBERTA CANADA. THERE WAS A FELLA THAT CALLED WITH A BRITISH ACCENT, AND SAID WE SHOULD USE NUCLEAR WEAPONS ON MECCA. WELL I DON,T KNOW ABOUT NUCLEAR WEAPONS, BUT A FEW M.O.A.B.S. MIGHT WORK. THE THING IS , MUSLIMS HOLD THIS NEAR AND DEAR (MECCA) . JUST AS WE HOLD CERTAIN THINGS NEAR AND DEAR. I WOULD TELL THEM IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT IF WE EVER SUFFER ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK, ESPECIALLY A CATSTROPHIC ONE, WE,LL REDUCE MECCA TO ASHES!!!!!! THEY MIGHT THEN THINK TWICE ABOUT SUCH THINGS. THE FACT IS WE ARE FIGHTING A 7 TH CENTURY DEATH CULT, THAT ONLY UNDERSTANDS ONE THING. I,M LOOKING TO AUGUST 22 TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH THAT SUICIDAL HEATHEN IN IRAN.ADMINE(JIHAD) IF HE THINKS HE SCARES US , WELL THAT SHOWS HOW DELUSIONAL HE TRULY IS!!!!!!! ISLAMONAZI PUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Election year fiasco
September 24th, 2006 by patricksperry
Here in Colorado we are yet again gearing up for another election year fiasco. There is more mudslinging than one might see in a pig trough. For the record…

I really do not care about what someone did in the past re: Failure to have a squeaky clean credit report.
I really could care less about minor legal transgressions, especially when it occurred years ago.
I find taking something completely out of context and splashing it all over the airwaves to be less than honorable, to say the least.
Making claims about supporting the Constitution and then supporting laws that clearly contradict that position are an acid test of personal honesty.
No, just because you have graduated from a law school does not make you superior to the rest of society.
No, your military record may be admirable. But that was then, and now is now.
No, I myself, and most others do not have some great need of your leadership because we the people are just to stupid to run our own lives.
Indeed, given all the rhetoric of late I am just disgusted.

Cross posted from my blog.

Gunny needs another topic starter for the Blog; Like "Rants of the day."
In any case last nights show was no eye opener to me. I am a retired Paramedic with more than 22 years on the streets of the Denver metropolitian area. Yes, I am one of the "vaunted" Sait Anthony / Denver General Paramedic Program that was taught by Doctor Gerald Gordon. ( Do an archive search in the Rocky Mountain News.) He taught us that we should never put up with snot nosed better then thou Doctors or Nurses. Most ER Doctors are now well aware that the of saving lives is in fact a team effort, and that they are not God. Alas, there are still some out there that simply cannot get that little piece of truth through their thick skulls.

Listening to last nights show as I drove back down to Denver on I-25 I was a bit intruged by some of the listeners choices for a Presidential ticket. Do people really want someone in the White House that does not, in fact support our Constitution?

So far as I can tell there are only two people that were mentioned that clearly have the nations interest at heart.
Condi Rice and Tom Tancredo.
