Former CU player and coach Jon Embree has been offered the position.
Newsradio 850 KOA has confirmed the University of Colorado offered the head football coaching position to Jon Embree. Just Thursday, CU issued a statement denying that Embree had been offered the job. AD Mike Bohn said, "The rumors that the University of Colorado has hired our next head football coach are untrue." In the email statement Bohn continued, "In the interests of the you men in our program, and our fans and supporters, I want to make clear that the search committee has not yet completed its work, and we have not yet offered the job to any candidate. We are hopeful of making a head coach announcement in the coming days and beginning a new and exciting era of CU football." Sources tell Newsradio 850 KOA that CU offered the defensive coordinator position to former Buffs star Eric Bieniemy but that the deal remains up in the air. In the meantime the Boulder Daily Camera is reporting the university has finalized a separation agreement with former coach Dan Hawkins. CU will pay Hawkins $2.1 million.
