On this edition of Front Range Focus--I speak with Dr. Francis Hickey --
He joined the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome as Clinical Director of its Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome in 2010. Since that time, Dr. Hickey has put together a multi-disciplinary team of experts with more than 80 years of combined experience in caring for children with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities. Recognized as one of "America’s Top Doctors" for ten years, Dr. Hickey has received numerous awards including the Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award from Exceptional Parenting Magazine. Dr. Hickey & his wife Kris are parents of four children, one of whom has the dual diagnosis of Down syndrome and autism.
I also speak with DeOndra Dixon. She has Down Syndrome, is highly functioning and so delightful ! She also happens to be the sister of actor Jamie Foxx. I talk to her about her life and towards the end of our talk, her sweet dad, George walks in. I wish I had more time to share with you their amazing chemistry.
