Just One Thing: How to push back against raging anti-Semitism on campus

Someone asked me yesterday what the solution is to the insanity on college campuses, the true threats against Jewish students, the calls for the death of all Jews with slogans like “from the river to the sea” and “There is just one solution, Intifada, revolution.” I have a few thoughts: arrest people, suspend and expel students – not for just saying stupid things but for true threats and disrupting the operation of a college. Fire aggressively anti-Israel and anti-Jewish staff. Refuse to give tenure to anti-Semites. And, as happened yesterday in New York, Jews and non-Jews alike who oppose the mindless hatred of the anti-Semites must show up publicly in large numbers and show the evil people and ordinary citizens that raging bigotry is neither wanted nor tolerated. This will not be a short or easy fight.

They don't seem like a huge change to me, but that's fine...I didn't mind the old ones.

Today's Guests

Jay Buckey, MD is a former astronaut and current professor at Dartmouth Medical School

Buckey is interested in countermeasures to help people be better at conflict resolution, stress management, and improving mood. These are all important for being successful during isolation and confinement. He will highlight his 16-day space flight aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia, the behavioral health work he has done, and how it translates back on Earth.

Jay will be speaking at an event for the University of Colorado Medical Center later this week: Partnerships for Veteran and Military Health Conference: New Horizons in Collaborating for Care

The symposium is a premier networking event in the western region for Veterans, Military Servicemembers, their caregivers and families, to share knowledge and experiences with healthcare providers, educators, researchers, and community service organizations. The conference is open to the public.

You can still sign up for the conference (regardless of the dates in the link): PVMH Conference | CU Nursing (cuanschutz.edu)

Trey Gowdy is a former Congressman from South Carolina, mercifully released from that torture. He has his own Fox News show on Sunday nights, "Sunday Night in America" that I enjoy a lot. Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy | Fox News

He's also a former prosecutor and the author of a really excellent book, "Start, Stay, or Leave: The Art of Decision Making"

We'll also try again to get CO State House Minority Leader Mike Lynch on the show to talk about why the Colorado GOP is subpoenaing him. (Hint: it's not really about him...it's about Dave Williams and the GOP "leadership" wanting to exclude unaffiliated voters from participating in the GOP primary.)

Today's Videos

If she's really getting rejected only based on a resume rather than seeing her, that would be interesting. But if it's the tattoos, well, what exactly did she expect? She wants to be put in a position where she'd either be customer-facing, which could be a challenge (depending on the industry) or potentially at least distracting in a more traditional office environment.

I don't look down on folks who have all this body art but they have to know they're taking a fairly significant risk when getting tattoos that are not only in exceptionally visible spots but also of rather aggressive images.

One other point where she might be on target, and anecdotally I heard something similar from another young adult looking for work: I wonder if companies are pretending to be hiring so that their current employees who are overworked can be told "we're trying to get you help...just hang in there for a while" when they really intend to string along the current employees at the current workload for as long as they can.

An excellent name for a...whatever this is
